The site is not without technical challenges and Shape Shed was engaged in the period prior to launch to iron out browser issues and to help create new functionality. Miomi pushes the boundaries of the web environment and is also helping to define what a web application should be.
Miomi was founded by three German graduates all of whom understand the potential of the Semantic Web. Miomi wants to hand history back to the people who make it. It will be a repository for the world’s memories, a memory bank for mankind, and the ultimate time-based resource. The vision is that Miomi will be the first port of call for moments of both personal and international history.
A major search engine optimisation exercise resulted in a 50% jump in traffic and a dramatic increase in the number of pages in Google's index. Site upgrades have included RSS Feeds and Accessiblity improvements. The site was also recoded to valid XTHML and CSS.
